Green Coffee Beans Import Grows by 46% in Kunshan Last Year

The latest statistics from Kunshan Customs reveals that Kunshan imported 1.63 billion yuan worth of green coffee beans in 2024, up by 46% year-on-year, accounting for 53.8% of Kunshan’s agriculturalimports.

Established in the Kunshan Comprehensive Bonded Zone in April 2023, Suzhou Mindoufang Technology Co., Ltd has rapidly grown to a key private trader of green coffee beans in the zone, importing over 8,000 tons of green coffee beans in 2024. “As a procurement and warehousing company at the upstream of the coffee industrial chain, we must fully consider the demands of roasting and sales companies at the downstream and adapt our import plans to market changes,” said Xing Xiaojing, head of the company’s customs affairs.

Kunshan Customs took one step ahead to grapple with this new category of green coffee beans. A whole-process monitoring plan was worked out starting from R&D of coffee products, raw material import, packaging of finished goods to logistics and distribution. In addition, any difficulties that might be encountered by the businesses in registration and filing, setting up account book, documentation and declaration or others would be addressed with the help of designated personnel. Kunshan Customs also improved its supervision model on account books to better serve the development of the entire coffee industrial chain. Meanwhile, a tailor-made supervision model was worked out for inspection and quarantine of imported coffee, allowing 90% of imported green coffee beans to go through inspection as soon as they are declared. Businesses involved may effectively reduce logistics cost and time for declaration if they choose to file one holistic declaration for the entire import after different batches of coffee beans are processed to enter the zone.
