Ship Export in Jiangsu Exceeds 100 Billion Yuan Last Year Up by 59% and Ranking First in ChinaIssuing time:2025-02-24 15:08 The latest statistics from Nanjing Customs show that the export value of various types of ships in Jiangsu hit 104.22 billion yuan in 2024, ranking first in China with a year-on-year increase of 59%. Among these, the exports of the three major ship types—liquid cargo ships, container ships, and bulk cargo ships—increased by 165.1%, 84.3%, and 18.3% respectively. Green energy, technology and materials are widely used in all kinds of ships. The 5650DWT self-unloading cement transport ship, designed and built by Zhenjiang Shipyard (Group) Co., Ltd by the Yangtze River, is expected to save 20% of fuel and cut 25% of carbon emissions each year. “Two ships of this model were delivered in 2024, and another four are expected to be delivered in the next two years,” introduced Qin Wei, deputy director of the company's material supply department. The “BRILLIANT FUTURE” liquefied gas ship, newly built by Jiangsu Yangzijiang Mitsui Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., will soon be delivered to the overseas market. It is the first 36,000-cubic-meter LEG ship built by the company, a new generation of LEG ship with global cutting-edge green and energy-saving technologies. “In recent year, our orders and the built tonnage of ships have achieved continuous growth. Notably, orders for the 40,000-cubic-meter medium-sized clean energy gas ship make up about one-fifth of the global market,” said Wang Yi, the company’s manager for customs affairs. The “Oriental Iris”, an ultra-large container ship built by Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd., was recently delivered abroad. It is the first 16828 TEU (standard container) ultra-large container ship self-designed, built and delivered by the company. With a deadweight tonnage of over 160,000 tons, the ship requires only 36 crew members to operate as rated. “The ship is safe, energy efficient, and intelligent; but above all, being green is its defining feature,” said Li Zheng, head of the company’s logistics management department.
